Surveillance cameras, how to operate, use and types

Surveillance cameras, how to operate, use and types

It is a camera system to transmit images for monitoring over long and short distances to ensure the safety of installations and buildings, both inside and outside

Types of surveillance camera systems

Cameras transmit the signal that is captured in two ways, and each type has its advantages and disadvantages. In our choice of type, we depend on the location conditions, the operating conditions of the camera, the distance the signal travels from, and the quality of the image to be captured.

1- IP camera: It is a camera used to monitor some places, using the Internet to transmit encrypted videos.
2- Wired System (Cable System): It is a camera connected by wires and cables. This type has disadvantages, including the inability to extend the cable to all areas, the inability to choose the installation location, and the difficulty of transporting the cameras later.
3- Wireless system: It is a surveillance camera without the use of wires or cables using Wi-Fi technology (this type is installed without the use of cables through the wireless router network and is monitored over the Internet and watched from the smartphone. The possibility of recording on the computer with the infrared feature for night vision)
4- Hidden: It is an invisible camera for espionage or protection purposes without notifying the targets.
5- External: They are surveillance cameras used in open places and places.
6- Interior: They are the cameras that are installed and used in closed areas, not exposed inside the buildings.
7- Mobile cameras: They are mobile cameras that work in all directions.

Types of surveillance cameras

Security cameras differ in appearance, use, method of communication, and purpose, including external, internal, mobile and fixed.

Outdoor cameras, are surveillance cameras used in open spaces and places as they are characterized by their ability to withstand all kinds of weather, environmental and weather factors, including extreme heat and cold, and are used to monitor the street or building from the outside.

Indoor cameras, are cameras that are installed and used in closed and undiscovered areas inside buildings. So it monitors the buildings from the inside.

PTZ mobile cameras, these cameras are suitable for large areas as they work in all directions, left and right, up and down, they can work in all directions, shoot at a wide range, and the ability to rotate up to 360 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically.

Wireless cameras, These cameras transmit the signal without wires, connect to the network via Wi-Fi, and are used in places where cables cannot be laid.

IP network cameras, which are of the modern type or the new generation, which are IP cameras. Network cameras that connect directly to the Internet router and transmit data over the network. It is connected to display and recording devices, as well as infrared cameras for night surveillance.

Types of recording devices
Recording devices are divided into two main parts:
Digital recording device
These devices are used to record and display videos and store the video on a hard disk or external flash memory. The types of these devices vary according to the accuracy and clarity of the camera connected to it, and the recording devices differ in order to suit the quality of the cameras, whether they are high quality, weak or very high, and they also differ according to the storage capacity and the number of distribution ports for the cameras, including devices with 4 ports up to 64 ports.

Network recording device

It is a network recording devices that records directly from the network cameras.

-Advantages of network recording devices
-A large number of network cameras can be connected to it
-The system can be monitored from any computer connected to the network
-Make the most of your system’s components as it deals with digital signals
-Owning a large number of entrances and exits

Types of connecting cables

Coaxial cable:

This type of cable allows video and video playback of surveillance cameras with a single cable. This type is available in reels up to 500 or 1000 meters in length and is the best type for use in CCTV. This cable is made of copper with 95 percent copper. It is very good for low frequency signals.

Internet cables:

It is an abbreviation for unprotected twisted pair and the best of these cables is CAT6, which is an abbreviation of Class 6. This type of writing can be known and the data transfer speed reaches 100 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

Twisted pair cables:

If we look at this cable from the inside, we will notice that it consists of a set of wires; These wires are in pairs so that each pair has its own color, but what makes this cable different is that it is not enclosed in any protective cover, and this type of cable is not used with all types of surveillance cameras; However, it is only used with both network and analog cameras, so it differs in terms of monitoring distance.
